Love

Tonight my eyes flooded with tears. Tears of happiness at the thought of my children.
Honestly, I didn't know I could love so much, and it was that thought that made me smile an broke my heart all at once.
When I met my husband I learned to cook, to listen, to read for pleasure, i even learned to be more organized, but my kids have brought it up a notch, I talk about the cute things they do, all day it seems. I make elaborate birthday cakes and I'm always decorating their rooms, I take so many pictures (seriously, if I took that many pictures of Jeremie...) anyways, i guess what I'm saying is that I was caught off guard by the depth of love this heart could feel.
I thank God for these little impish creatures who teach me a little more each day, for the man God gave to me, who stands by me and showers me with his steady love and for the God who redeemed me that I might fully live this experience of Love.

Life chez nous

What does life look like, "chez nous"?
It's waking up to a little princess who crawls in beside me to get her morning cuddles.
waking up again to a hungry little monkey who shakes his hands at me till he's had his milk.
it's kissing my hunny goodbye and then planning a day full of crafts, songs, and playtime.
then downstairs to chat with my house-mate and ask if she's had her baby yet.
It's the park, or a play date, or rainy day activities.
It's lunch and naps(for some, sometimes for all)
it's French lessons, etiquette classes, preschool, gardening
it's high fives, tickle fights, times outs and apologies
it makes me happy and drives me slightly crazy, and i wouldn't change it for the world.

One last time

Wow I can't believe I haven't blogged since the boy was born, it's already coming up to his 1st birthday, amazing. I will try this blog thing one last time. it seems like such a good idea in theory, but the reality of sitting down and coming up with clever things to say after a day of Raffi, painting projects and poopy diapers seems like more of a chore than an outlet.

So many things have happened that are worth blogging about since my last attempt that I don't know where to start. I think what I'll do is post little bloggs about different things and see which one flows organically. Ya that sounds like it'll work. This however, is my last attempt, if it doesn't work out, then I will figure that it's just not for me...or not for me for now. I look forward to re-posting.

The Big Sister

Maya came home from the cottage with a big smile. She had so much fun, that she hardly ever talked about us. Once she was home however, it was all about the baby. She wanted to hold him and kiss him and burp him. She was happy to see us too, at least for a little while.
We've been making sure to incorperate some maya time every day to help her transition into being a big sister. We dance and play and tell her we love her as much as possible. One day we had a very special outing. It was Maya's first hair cut, and we made a day of it. first we went to get daddy's hair cut. She got to see what it was all about and saw that daddy was not afraid, she also got a lollypop :)
after a nice picknick lunch it was Maya's turn. For her first hair cut we went to Hair Play. A Salon that specializes in kids cuts. There were seats shaped like cars, Dora playing on a tv overhead and more lollypops. Maya didn't say much at the time, but she hasn't stoped talking about it since. She even mimics Vicky (her hair dresser) when playing pretend.
At the end of the visit Maya got another lollypop (which we saved for another day) and a deploma for her first hair cut.
We'll try to keep doing little things like this from time to time. They grow up way too fast.

Catching up

So, Here we are!
We're home with our little Jonah. He was born on August 18th at 1:30 pm. weighing in at 8lbs 2oz and mesureing are good 21".
The Labour went really well, I would even say it was almost fun. My Dr. Was there to deliver my baby and she was amazing, and I couldn't have asked for a better nurse.
The labour lasted 5 hours form start to finish. I was induced again, but this experience was much nicer than the last.
Jonah had a great first night at the hospital, even letting mommy and Daddy sleep for 4 hrs.
Other blessings included, my mom being able to be there for his birth, all our wonderful visitors and Maya's Grannie and Grampa were able to bring her to the cottage for 3 days while we adjusted to our new little guy. She came to visit us at the hospital first of course.
As you can see Jonah was born with a great head of hair, what you can't see is that he was born with a great set of lungs.

Waiting

You'd think that after being 9 days late with our first baby, I would have learned not to rush this pregnancy thing. You think I would have learned not to start the count down till the due date, but some habbits die hard.
This baby will also be 9 days late. Well...just on time for him! Next time I get pregnant I'll just tack on an extra two weeks to my due date.

I'm never buying finger paints again

who'd have thunk that you can make your own non toxic finger paint. I ran out of my old stuff and thought I'd look online for a recipe and sure enough there it was; so simple and easy. As you can see from the picture it looks just as good as the stuff you buy in the store. I put my homemade paint in the old bottles. looks like I bought them that way.

Here is the recipe:

Home Made Finger Paint

Mix together 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/3 cup of cornstarch in a small pan, then slowly add 2 cups of cold water.
• Bring to a slow boil, ruduce heat to low, stirring until the mixture becomes a smooth, almost clear gel (about 5 minutes).
• When it's cool, stir in 1/4 cup clear dishwashing liquid.
• Scoop equal amounts of the mixture into containers and stir in food coloring (or, for even more vibrant colors, use food coloring paste).

it is good for up to a month and is even fun in the bathtub as bubble paint.

oh sunlight makes the colours really brilliant.

hope you find this helpful.
